So you might be one of those people who doesn’t work a regular 9-5 shift a day. You know, those people who actually work endless in a 24/7 life cycle where a work schedule is nothing but a piece of junk. You make web designs, put up websites, talk to servers for heaven knows how long. Has it ever come to a point where you even heard the voice of the server talk back to you?

Well just in case you don’t know yet, you are a freelance web designer. You are running a one man business empire right from your own bedroom.

Well, congratulations! Because you are not a bummer like what most people think of you are.

But here lies the problem. When you do a freelance web design, chances are you would do everything to be on top of your game and land a lot of clients.

Welcome to the club! Though slavery has been abolished since the Civil War, you may still of those web designers trying to make a fool of themselves, becoming slaves, only to land a contract.

Your peers in the freelance web design world may be killing your competition, offering their clients with a lot of services for a very low price.

If you are a freelancer offering work in an hourly basis, you should know how much work are needed in an hour. Are you being compensated well for the job that you do? How much are the overhead costs? Do you have subscriptions for website design tools? Have a sound accounting policy in place. This is business, you should earn profit and not suffer from losses.

The reason why website design companies provide unbelievable prices is to get their firms fluid. This is one thing you should remember, yes you won a client, but your rate is cheap. This eventually will deplete your capital because of you might end up spending beyond your means.

But do not bill your client as much as a web design firm does when you are limited with your resources. Be honest in telling your clients what you can and cannot do. Tell them your strengths, your weaknesses, how you can work on to improve that as fast as you can.

Be ready to object when your prices are at stake. You will encounter in this lifetime a lot of people thinking that those web design prices are unreasonable. They will threaten to go with your competition, just to get what they want. They will haggle until you say YES.

You are not a slave right? So back off, back off and back off when you think that this client is deceiving you.
